Hi, I drag URLs from the Address box to my Links bar in IE. Often the
WEB site's logo becomes the default icon on the Links bar. This has
suddenly changed and all icons are now shown with the IE icon, the
lower case blue "e".
Can this be fixed?

i welkin,

Thank you for your question.

Those logos are custom icons and unfortunately they get lost when you
clean your cache. They are called favicons. (.ico files.) The good
news is yes, they can be "fixed" and will not ever be lost again!

Favicons for Internet Explorer are a great way to identify links in
your Favorites Listings. They also add a little class to the address
bar. However, if you dump your History they are gone until you go to
that site and Re-Save it to your Favorites.

This little program solves this problem. Simply download, unzip and
install. Run the program and it will check all your Favorites and
secure the Favicon into it's own file. So now if you should dump your
history or your history for a site reaches its limit in days, your
Favicons will still be there.

Download and install, then run the program.

I use it and it works very nicely.

It's probably because you cleared your history/cache/temp files.
These are known as favicons.ico (Favorite Icons) and they normally
will only last until your Internet Explorer Temp files are cleared.

This program will allow you to save the favicons.ico (Favorite Icons)
permanently in a different folder and re-associate your favorites with
the stored icons.

Sometimes finding the right answer oneself means asking the right
question! If I had known to search for "favicons" ...... I do
appreciate the service and how speedily you got back to me.
