I am a member of a group in North Beach, San Francisco working for
more open space (for parks and playgrounds)in District 3 which
includes Fishermans Wharf, North Beach, Chinatown, the Waterfront, and
Downtown. This district arguably has the highest density
(population)in the City. Few residences have yards. The Recreation
and Park Department when tabulating "open space" only includes public
green spaces - it does not include backyards which are larger and more
prevalent in the other neighborhoods (districts)of San Francisco.
What I am looking for is data by district that will show both public
open space (parks, playgrounds) and privately-owned open space (front
and back yards)within each district. I need to be able to compare the
districts by both public and private space existing. My hunch is that
other neighborhoods (districts) have significantly more open space in
the form of backyards than does district 3 - but I need some hard
numbers. Can someone help? |
