How to analyze the search strategies found in the transaction log of
an online database? For example, how to divide, based on the search
strategies used by the patrons, those who are "expert users" from the
"normal" and "novice" users?

I am referring to a scientific literature database in a library.
The intention is to know how the patrons are currently using the
database, based on the search strategies they employ ot interrogate
the database.
