Avid News 5.1.6 is available A new update is available for Avid Xpress Pro HD. 5.1.6 fixes a few bugs, as you would expect. One significant improvement is that Xpress Pro now works with Realtek High definition audio cards. Before 5.1.6 if you had this kind of audio card in your system you would load Xpress Pro HD and it would crash. Now it works. This was something of a problem because many motherboards now come with this type of card built-in. It was not a problem on desktops, where we would always recommend you add a sound card anyway, but was more of a problem with laptops, where it is a lot harder to add another sound card. We do have a good option for an additional sound card for a laptop, which is a PCMCIA SoundBlaster, which will give you decent quality sound and surround sound output, but for most people this was an unnecessary expense. |
