Hi frycek-ga: Well, I did some searching for this statistic and I must say that pretty much every figure I was able to find agreed that about 33% of the world's population is Christian. (That's about 2 billion people, give or take.) This is also consistently the largest religious group by percentage. Some up-to-date sites I found that agree with 33% include: * adherents.com - a site set up to do little else but compile such statistics. http://www.adherents.com/Religions_By_Adherents.html * ReligiousTolerance.com - while apparently a Christian site, their figures looked reliable too. http://www.religioustolerance.org/worldrel.htm * infoplease.com - a "family education network" http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0904108.html * Population Connection - a non-profit organization working to slow the planet's population growth. http://www.populationconnection.org/Communications/ED2002WEB/WorldOneHundredDataMaster.pdf I hope this puts your mind at ease about this question. If you need any clarification, please ask. Thanks. websearcher-ga Search Strategy on Google: religions population world religions percentages | |

Hello frycek, Forgive me for going off topic, but I noticed that this identical question was posted twice within a few minutes. As this seems to be happening more and more here at Google Answers, I thought I would ask how this happens. Was there something that lead you to believe that your question had not been posted the first time? Was there something that was accidently clicked twice? I'd sincerely appreciate if you could assist me in understanding just how double posts are happening here so that perhaps we can find a solution and minimize inconvenience to both the poster and the research team. Thanks in advance for your comments. Regards, -=clouseau-ga=- |
