Question ID: 539092
I've researched the many reasons for low testosterone in men..but can
anyone answer how this can 'suddenly' appear in a 29 year old healthy
male that excercises daily and is stress free. I've been taking
propecia for about 9 years with never once experiencing the side
effects..but over the last 4 months I have experienced almost every
symptom of Testosterone deficiency..Sex Drive reduced, abdominal fat
increase, body fat increase, forgetfullness, fatigue...you name it. I
had my blood checked and sure enough my Total Testosterone level is
274..compared to a range given of 260-1100 that's way too low for a
healthy 29 yr old male. Had prolactin levels check...normal range.
Next is FSH and LH levels to check. Do I need to quit taking
propecia? Also, how do I get back to the normal ranges?...any type of
kick start to get me going?

My testosterone measured 276 ng/dl. Please do not tell me it's in the
'normal range'...maybe for someone who is much older...but not 29
years old.

Any of the Propecia-like drugs blocks the effects of testosterone,
particularly the one you want blocked, which is hair loss. So, if you
want to play, you have to pay!

I understand that. However, wouldn't these symptoms present
themselves much earlier...such as the first few months to a year?
Also, my free testosterone measured out of range (on the low
side)...Propecia is supposed to prevent free testosterone from
becoming DHT. I don't even have enough free testosterone to begin
with! I'm wondering if I have secondary Hypogonadism...only I don't
show the other symptoms of hair loss in genital area and
armpits/beard. Had blood drawn today to see if discontinuance of
Propecia is making a difference..it had been a month since I
discontinued.
