If I own a rental property and it is not listed with any realtor, can
I pay a referral fee to someone, not a realtor,  that knows a buyer
for the property and refers that buyer to me to sell the property.

Are you asking if it's a good idea or legal? Where is the property located?

YES!  It is a good idea to pay a referral fee.  Typically a referral
fee isn't a large amount like a realtor will charge.  Please fee free
to email me with any further questions.  I recommend 1% of the selling
price.  For example if you sell your home for $300,000 then give your
friend $3,000.00 as a BIG thank you for saving you $15,000 that you
would have paid a realtor.  Best of luck!!!
