This could be many things.
If you are using Norton or Internet Explorer, there are certain
security settings that may be preventing you from viewing these sites.
For IE, try going to Tools-->Internet Options-->Content-->Approved
Sites and allow those websites. Then go under the "General Tab" in
the same place as "Approved Sites" and click "Users can see sites that
have no rating."
If security barriers are up on your computer (like, you are looking at
these from a University), you will need the System Administrator to do
this, or the password.
If you have Norton Security software running (I know you say that you
don't have a Firewall up, but did not say if this software is at least
installed or not), you will have to allow these sites in a similar
fashion on this software.
Additionally, many of these sites use Plug-ins like Flash (I know that
the Disney site does!) you might want to visit the Macromedia site
and download this and any other free components you can think of.
Also, with these sites being popular, they are highly-trafficed, which
will slow them down to a crawl that may time out, no matter the
connection speed. If other sites work fine, I would hazzard a guess
that this might be the problem. Also, Disney has problems with their
site. I have had it not-load on several occasions. Also, Yahoo has
been known to time out, especiallly during the mid-day in the U.S.
This might be a factor.
Another trick: if there is an error message brought up or "cannot
find server" or a blank page, hit the refresh button (F5) several
times. Sometimes this also helps. Also, try searching the pages on
Google and clicking on their provided links. Who knows, you may be
accidentally typing the pages in wrong, although this is doubtful.
Also, there is a setting on the browser that sometimes restricts use
to only working if you type in the IP address. Considering that you
made it here fine, I assume typing hyyp://www.google.com/ then, this
is not the case.
If you go to the Disney page ( http://www.disney.com/ ), you get
redirected to:
http://disney.go.com/park/homepage/today/flash/index.html
which contains FLASH. You may need to install this.
I think the REAL site has FLASH, too.
But the YAHOO site does not, so take this as you will...
Good luck,
