Hi there again!

Ok, here's what I did. I put our Hotel selection process in the hands
of the people. A search for Top 20 Hotels in Boston netted me this
list of luxury hotels as voted by the people who actually stay at
these places, (of which regrettably I am not one) --

I realize that three of the original Top 20 List are on our "already
done" list, but I included them anyway to keep your list complete and
up to date. Then, to fulfill my end of the deal, I've added three
more from this list --

http://boston.citytravelguide.com/boston/hotels-4-star.htm

For your reference, to get the information I just phoned the hotel and
asked for it. In every case the operator (or whoever answered) gave me
the General Manager's name immediately with no questions asked. When
I asked for the email they sometimes had to transfer me to the front
desk, but every one that had email gave it to me willingly. Everyone
was extremely pleasant.

A couple of hints in case you decide to do further phone calling
yourself.

--- Call at night. Most of my calls were between 11:30 and 12:30 last
night. The advantage is that the phone is answered on the first ring
and the answer is immediate. The calls I made during the day resulted
in long hold-times, transfers to the "executive office" and more
questions about who I was and why I wanted the information.

--- Don't use the 800 numbers. You end up stuck in automated systems
before you can get to a real person.

--- Be friendly and casual so they don't get nervous that you're
filing a complaint.

Finally, if you are interested in having me contact any more hotels in
Boston, I'd be happy to do that at the same rate that we've been
using, $1 per hotel. However, at that rate I would ask that you
provide me with the list of names and phone numbers you'd like
contacted since we've pretty well exhausted the "Top 20" and "4-Star"
lists. Now, just identifying the remainder of the "major" hotels and
tracking down numbers will take a great deal more research effort.
Let me know if you'd like to pursue this.

Thanks so much for allowing me to follow up on your question. It's
been an interesting project and I've certainly enjoyed my "virtual"
visit to Boston.

Regards,

Saved me a lot of time (and money, because it turned out I actually
knew one of the managers from another hotel he worked at four years
ago. Got a great rate) I say get the word out about Google-answers!

I've planned a lot of trips to Boston, spent a lot of time there, and
have stayed at many of the hotels on the list. Knowledge_seeker has
done an excellent job of culling the many Boston hotel offerings to
come up with a list of the best!
