A search with "joseph rodgers & sons" turns up many hits, including items on auction. These sites indicate that it is one of - if not the - oldest existing knife maker in Sheffield, England, dating from 1682: http://www.littlemesters.com/sheffield_history.htm http://collections.ic.gc.ca/peh/objects/manufacturers/pmanu26.html http://www.rod-neep.co.uk/rod/knives/wharncliffe/ This site gives some history of the company: http://www.sheffieldgalleries.org.uk/coresite/html/searchresults.asp?SearchOn=makerassets&ID=5 The company is very well known. There are almost 40 sites mentioning it. Myoarin |
