The first, and simplest step is to check the connections of
the cables coming out of your audio card. Wiggle and reseat
them. If that doesn't solve the problem, I would suggest
powering down your PC, unplugging the main power cable,
opening it up and checking the amount of dust inside.
If it's too dusty, take special note of the amount on or
near the audio card. I would remove the audio card (you'll
need to unplug all the input/output cables first, noting
where they go for when you put it back) and dust it with a
Swiffer cloth or even use your vacuum with the brush
attachment, and clean it, and the rest of your system, as
gently and carefully as you can. Then re-seat the audio
card, plug the cables back in, close up the PC, replace the
power cord, boot up and see if things have improved.
