Lately, I've been interested in gene transfer between prokaryotic
cells (I took a course in microbiology and I loved it very much and I
want to learn more about certain aspects of it). I came across a
really neat experiment involving microbial experiments and I have a
question that I can hardly answer myself. I was wondering if 50% of
trp+, pyrF+ cotransduction equals 0.5% of the E. coli chromosome and
the entire chromosome carries 4200 genes, what is the minimum number
of genes (same as minimum amount of lateral gene transfer) transferred
by P1 phage to the trp+, pyrF+ transductants?
