Question ID: 540188
Is the information concerning Eugenio Pacelli (Pope Pius XII) in Paul
Christopher's "Author's Note" in his book "Michelangelo's Notebook"
published by New American Library, June 2005 true?
Specifically did he {Eugenio Pacelli (Pope Pius XII)} have an
incestuous relationship with his niece, Katherine Annunzio? Was she
confined in a convent prior to giving birth to a son and did she ultimently
committ suicide? Was Cardinal Spellman involved in relocating
Eugenio Pacelli's (Pope Pius XII) ' son to the U.S.? What was the
direct relationship between Eugenio Pacelli (Pope Pius XII) and the
disappearance of the Gold Train and art treasures? Did the so-called
Vatican ratlines exist and did they help Nazi's escape?

Also, of interest, I couldn't seem to find much info about the author,
Paul Christopher... and no public feedback on what he says is true.

"Michaelangelo's Notebook" is a fictional work. As to the truth of
the "Author's Note," I need a point of clarification. Does Paul
Christopher site any sources for his claims that you question? If so,
I would be interested to know what they are. If not, then Paul
Christopher is doing nothing more than spreading rumors.

*Rumor is defined as purportedly true information that is circulated
without substantiating evidence.

Thanks.

Christopher does not site any sources, nor have I been able to verify
his "author's note" on the web. I'm curious enough to try this search
approach.

Indeed the book is "fictional" as in Dan Brown's work.

I also realize that a significant number of fictionalized works are
based on certain facts, and usually the facts expressed as an authors
note are not fiction.

Michelangelo's Notebook was just published June 2005 and in paperback
which also is curious.

I just finished reading "michelangelo's notebook" and I couldn't put
it down..however, I was left confused at the end...
I was wondering if anyone could tell me how it all unfolded at the
end...somewhere, I never figured out who killed the art dealers..
and how the priest was in the old woman's house and then opened the
door to be shot by the detective...
and who was sitting in the room nude...???
was the pope's son an innocent victim or seeking revenge??

I read all the time and have never been left this confused...maybe
I'll read it again.

I'm with you. I am totally confused regarding the ending of this
book. I assumed it was the priest/DOHS officer that was killing the
art dealers. Although it could be the detective doing the killing.
Anyway, the book doesn't spell this out very well.

I also assumed that the old lady's house was at the other end of tunel
that started at the Grange Foundation. Thus the detective was able to
shoot the priest when he opened the door. However, this seemed a
little to much of a coincidence (both the priest and the detective
being in the same place at the same time) to swallow.

Third like you I don't really know who was copying the religious
texts. Again, I assume it was the priest.

Next, I had a lot of trouble understanding the second assasin angle.
What was that all about? I also felt the author made it very
difficult to keep track of all the characters and their relationships.
 Way to confusing.

Finally, I didn't understand why Finn's mother would give her a number
to an ex OSS agent if she got into trouble. Did she have some
clarvoyance which led her to believe that her daughter would be
targeted for murder? Odd.

I just finished reading this book and I had to comment on it. I read a
lot and have never felt the need to do this so strongly.

THIS IS ONE OF THE WORST BOOKS I HAVE READ IN A VERY LONG TIME!

You are all right when you say it is a very confusing story. Not
because you are not smart, but because it is badly written.
The book I read before this one, was the Da Vince Code.
I thought that book was storywise not so good, but was very
interesting because of the church history.
And the research that had gone into it.
this Michelangelo notebook story is in my opinion a very cheap copy of
the same basic idea but does not get further than the title. There is
no reference to the notebook at all concerning the plot.
I hope you will allow me one more frustration (sorry, I am Dutch.)
If you do research for a book like this and you want to throw around
names like it is done in this book,
at least be accurate. FRANS HALS not Franz Hals. (have you ever seen one???)

Thank you
