I have been hearing so much about this government grant deals.
basically, i am looking for someone to tell me if it works.

i do not want someone to tell me where to buy these programs from, i
know where to find them. i do not want someone who speculates how they
work, i have read about them.

i want someone who has actually tried this, successfully or not, just
to tell me their experience and the truth about how this works, etc.

i do not want someone to say ok well you apply and they approve or
decline application, i already know the obvious.

i am looking for something that i cannot read on the internet or in a
book from tv, etc. and that is of course practical experience.

thank you everyone for your comments.

bkaufmann,

My Mother-in-law purchased 'something' that enabled her to locate and
qualify for a grant. The catch was she had to use their services in a
specified time, or they expired. It was fairly expensive. She went to
school and became an aesthetician. Her tuition and expenses were all
paid.

Also, did you know that you don't need to "pay" for this information?
There's government web sites that can lead you through the maze of
grants available.

Government grants "work" but...

You'll notice many of them are very, very restrictive in the programs,
what they cover, etc. As you know, the TV ads make it sound as if
anyone can apply...they money's just waiting to be handed out. Truth
is, usually the criteria are so tight (either for the use of the funds
or the persons/organizations who can apply for it) that very few
people will be successful. In fact, sometimes the grant criteria are
specifically written to apply just to a single company. Happens all
the time. Those are called "wired."

Even if they're not wired, there's some purpose to each of the grants.
They're not just handing out money for the fun of it. It might be
targeted low interest loans--but then the criteria to qualify are
quite strict. Or, often, the money must go to a nonprofit
organization. Unless you choose to incorporate as a nonprofit, you
won't qualify for a lot of those.

So, yes, they're legitimate. But, no, it's not easy.
