- How many Emergency Departments (aka Emergency Rooms or ERs) are
there in the 50 states of the USA?

- What is the trend line for the number of EDs?  i.e., over the last N
years have the number of EDs been increasing, decreasing, or holding
constant?

An exact number is not needed...I'll settle for "about N, +/- 20%", or
"somewhere between 50,000 and 250,000".

I will also offer a $30 tip, as it seems I may have undervalued the question.

Quite-a-many. You have to involve all American counties and major
cities, to include the volunteer versions. This is an impossible
Question. Count all the counties in all the states, multiply by fifty,
then add the major cities and other non-Federal quantities plus the
Federal.

Thinking about it, someone actually might come up with a reasonable number.

I recently read an article that stated 10% of all American ERs have
closed since 1993.
