Hi there,

The rules of domain name ownership allow for a 3rd party to enter
their details on your behalf, although this is a service I have not
seen from any business that sells domain names (but some might - there
are so many domain name sellers out there...)

"The good news in all of this is that the ICANN accreditation
agreement lets third parties enter their name and contact information
into the Whois directory on behalf of actual domain registrants. In
other words, registrars could put their own names and addresses into
the directory if their clients want them to. Registrars have an
important opportunity to offer a new feature here. In a business where
the only real competition comes from lowering the prices on domain
renewals, registrars that offered a privacy feature would likely gain
the upper hand in the market for non-commercial customers."

Good News! Internonymous provides such a service for $25 per year.

Thanks for the question, for this is something that will help me out
as well.

You can register a domain name that doesn't publish details to whois

I think this would defeat the purpose of registering a domain name.

Here is an example of a TLD that doesn't publish the registrants
details only the registrar's
for the TLD domain name .CC
'internet.cc'

Hmm that URL is not referenced easily,
try this whois for .cc
http://www.whois.cc/
and enter 'internet.cc'

Some url registars tend to give less info. Godaddy.com seems to give
little info and just typically gives the name not addresses and phone
numbers. You can also put in a fake name such as first name
"webamster" and last name "administrator". I have seen that as names
before.

Good Luck insideinfo-ga
