I am hoping to access a collection of historical papers at the Library of Congress (LOC) in Washington DC. The person who gave the papers to the LOC signed a contract in 1990 saying that no one could have access for 10 years after his death, which happened last year. I am interested if there have ever been similar cases where the LOC decided to open up someone's papers, either to the public or to family members. In this particular case, the person who gave his papers to the Congress expressed numerous times in his life, but not in a written contract, that he wanted open access to his papers. |
