Question ID: 540638
I am interested in determining how well several materials conduct
electrical current. The materials are a solid material that could be
applied as a coating to a conductive wire or a conductive plate.

To answer the question, the answer must provide both equipment that I
could buy to perform the evaluations myself and a laboratory that
could perform the evaluations on my materials. For the equipment,
provide the model number and contact information for at least three
suppliers. For the testing facility, provide the contact information
for at least three certified facilities.

The evaluations must be conducted at both high and low voltage. Low
voltage evaluations should be performed around 1.5 volts. The high
voltage stress test should be performed at 800 volts and a current of
approximately 20 amps.

Values are DC current (not AC)

Hello Scottymoe-ga,

In my large list of Google Searches (At the bottom), I came across
GlobalSpec, an engineering search engine. I did a search for companies
that did ?electrical conductivity testing.? Out of the 605 they had
listed for testing services, six did Electrical/Electronics Testing.

Here is their contact information.

Nenna, thanks for the prompt answer. Please confirm that the test
equipment and test facilities you provided are capable of testing at
1.5 volts and 800 volts with a current of approximately 20 amps (DC.

Hello,

I did check with the companies, calling their numbers yesterday and
confirming they could do your testing at the required specs. However,
I have not checked the equipment. I'll get right to work on that today
emailing the manufactures or calling, and I'll post in results as I
get them here.

Nenna, can you please update me on our progress confirming that the test
equipment you provided are capable of testing at 1.5 volts and 800
volts with a current of approximately 20 amps (DC)?

Hello again,

I sent out e-mails and never recieved a follow-up. I'll e-mail them
again and start calling and report back.

Hello

At Analyticon I have emailed with them and they recommended you to try
their super megohm meters. You can contact Don below for information.

At Foerster I could not get a response. I have emailed and called and
no one can seem to verify any information for me. They refer me to
voicemail (with no return phone call) or I get a cookie cutter email
back from them telling me my email has been forwarded to the correct
department and I?ll get a response soon. I wish I had more for you on
this one.

At GE, I had asked them your question by sending an email, and got a
response back from a fellow named Dave who said he had a better piece
of equipment to use for this; did I want to know about it? I said yes
in a return email, and have not been in contact with him since despite
three follow up emails.

I did get this however, if it gives you a lead

Nenna, Thank you for the update. I appreciate the work that you did so
far. As of today, you have been able to recommend test labs but have
not yet been able to recommend three pieces of equipment that meet the
criteria. What do you recommend that I do? My request for a refund
was disallowed by Google because of a 30 day rule. If at all
possible, I do not want to give your answer a low rating but feel
strongly that the answer provided to date did not meet the criteria.
Your suggestions are welcome.

Hello again,

If you'd like, I can work on coming up woth some more equipment for
you. I understand what you're saying, and I'm sure it's very
frustrating to both of us that I can't get a straight answer or
response back from these companies. Please give me a few more day sand
I'll do some more digging, does that work for you?
