Question ID: 540670
My father has a commercial building.
He wants to provide a wireless internet access to this commercial
building because He wants to add this feature which is internet access
to the building so that He can sell/rent its offices quickly and
easily.

This building is described as follow:

Building Area: 1230 meters.
Number of floors: 4.
Area of each floor: 1230 meters.
Number of offices in each floor: 20. Except the forth floor: only 3.
Area of each office: 50 meters.	Except the forth floor offices: 100 meters.

The building is like ?L ?-shape. In each line of the ?L?, there are 10
offices. So that, we have a total of 20 offices in each floor.

Each office has a different owner and business type?
Each office has between 2 to 5 pc?s or laptop?s.
So I have average total of users between 40 t 70 users.

Some of the offices may not want internet access, and they may need it
in the future.

I have a small background in networking.
so that can I do this project bt my own with helping of one of network guys.
or should we go to IT company?

whatever the answer of previous quesion , I want a solution for this
project (Wireless Internet)????

How long will take to implement it?
What type of internet access I need, DSL/ or Leased line?
What is the speed of the internet I need, 256, 512?
What network products I need?
What brand names I can trust? Regarding network products.
How much will this project cost me in average?

Hope I can get an excellent and professional answer quickly.

Thank you.

Hi, roofa-ga:

A better mechanism for providing Internet access to tenets of a
commercial building might be using the power line infrastructure. If
you can tell me what city you are in, I could provide further details
and refer you to vendors who do this type of installation.

Of course I understand that you have asked about wireless access. If
this is the only type of Internet access that would interest you, it
will still be helpful to know the city or regional location, as there
are newer forms of broadband wireless connections available in certain
locations.

Hi, roofa-ga:

The wireless bridge which the local ISP proposed to you:

[CISCO 350 Series Wireless Bridge]
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/wireless/ps458/ps460/

is rated at 11Mbps, which is a good solution for a single small
office, or for a coffee house-style hotspot.

I would be dubious about supporting a dozen or more business offices
with that bandwidth. If you were to identify the zipcode of this
location, it would be possible to determine what higher-rated
broadband options are available.

Hello, Mathtalk.

Regrading the wireless bridge which the local ISP proposed to me, I
have no idea if this bridge will support the 60 offices because I dont
know where it going to be fit in the project all what I know, they are
going to use 2 of this bridge, one it will be in thier building and
other in my building to create connectoin between us.

this list of the products they will use :

1 CISCO 350 Series Wireless Bridge. Quantity: 2
2 Cisco parabolic antenna, Quantity: 2
3 15M LowLoss Antenna Cable , Quantity: 2
4 CISCO Router1721 + WIC-IENET=
   10/100BaseT Modular Router w/2 WAN slots, 32M Flash/64M DRAM, Quantity: 1.

And all of these products are just to deliver the Internet connection
to the office in the 2nd floor, which is the office am gona use for
this project and I will distribute the internet connection from this
office to the remaining offices wireless.

zipcode of my location 21332 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
