Hi
Well i am trying to write a program (software) that will identify
viruses on a computer. I want to do this by using artificial
intelligence. I have lengths of virus source codes but from each code
how do i find the identifier. Is there anywhere on the internet that
has virus signitures derived from source codes (to my knowledge this
what the anti virus scanner looks for). Once this has been found i
want to put it into an alogrithm of some sort. I purpose a genetic
alogrithm. Are there any other alogrithms that i can use if so what and
how can i put the set virus signitures in to it???How do i code the
alogrithm?? How does norton anti virus repair and remove viruses???

Hi,

There is a Perl Mod which is designed for scanning of viruses across
multi-platforms. The source code of this mod shows several virus ID's
that it uses for scanning and should get you on your way. A good place
to keep an eye on is Freshmeat.net, there are several open source type
projects going on there which will lead you to other data sets and
even some good ideas about how to improve your project. Highly
recommend the place, and putting your source on there will give you
the opportunity to hear other's advice and suggestions.

Final place I'll list is a website called OpenAntiVirus Project, also
linked below, with hosts databases and gallons of info on virus and
virus scanning. This is probably going to be your best resource for
this project.

CPAN.org Scan.pm
