My daughter and son-in-law have to arrange a total of 8 to 10, 2- 3 hour visits, in Oakland CA over several weeks. They would be driving into Oakland for the day, return home afterwards. Dates and times are not set yet, it could be the end of July or anytime in Aug. or Sept. The visits would be sometime between 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Mon. to Fri. Problem is they have a six month old baby they would need a sitter for. Is it possible to find a day care that takes a 6 month old for this type of short time, short term day care? Cost is no object. Baby is in good health. |

Hi Rintin-ga I have a number of options I am looking into, but I did get one confirmation for you and wanted to get it to you as soon as possible so it can be arranged. I don?t want you guys to miss out on a good thing! I did a number of searches, sent a lot of emails and left a lot of messages. (I will follow up with any other responses I get that could also help your daughter and son-in-law out.) However? Latonya Williams Raggedy Ann & Andy Family Childcare 510-967-1027 MrsMDub30@aol.com Hours of Operation 24/7 She is in the Oakland Area (Within 10 minutes) I found her posting on http://www.craigslist.com/eby/kid/81815074.html She is First Aid Certified Licensed (# 013418290). She is also a mother of two and loves children. She has an assistant during Monday-Friday, offers meals, and a smoke-free environment. For Drop-in Care, her rates run? Drop in Care everyday from 6am - 6pm $5.00 an hour Drop in Care every night from 6pm til 6am 6.50 an hour She confirmed on the phone with me she?d be more than happy to meet with the family, offer a tour of her home and set up a schedule. (I did not post her full adderss online for safety reasons) I spoke with a number of other infant centers and heard at least 5 or 6 times that most centers do not offer drop-in care, so I think a private home like this would be the best match for your Family?s needs. Once again, if I get any more conformations from emails or calls I have made, I will clarify my answer and add those options on as well. If this answer requires further explanation, please request clarification before rating it, and I'll be happy to look into this further. Nenna-GA Google Answers Researcher | |

Another option to consider is a professional nanny. Nanny placement agencies (and there are some of the finest in the county your area) will have professional nannies that work part time for various families that can be assigned to work in your daughter's home during their trip. These (usually) young (usually) women are often highly experienced in this type of temporary work and you can often find one skilled with infants. They also usually come with extensive references of families like your's who you can speak to directly. As a mom who has been in your daughter's situation in the past and have used nanny placement services, they can be a God send. If you look up "nanny agency" or "childcare" in the yellow pages I'm sure you will see several services. This may just be an alternative to consider versus taking the baby to a daycare outside of its usual environment. Good Luck!!! happytobeme |
