I would like to get/purchase a copy of an ancient Tibetan Medical text
called Sibu Yi Dian. I'd prefer it in English, but would be interested
in other languages if found.

"Sibu Yidian" are the Four Medical Tantras of Tibetan medicine. There
is no "Sibu Yidian" available that I am aware of but there are some
publications that say they are complete references for Tibetan
medicine (an in English too, no less) if this is suitable as an
answer:

"The Quintessence Tantras of Tibetan Medicine"
The most thorough, detailed, & systematic reference for Tibetan
medicine in English.

Dear Idutms,

I've found no indication that the book has ever been translated into
English. The only available version I've found is in Mongolian, and it
is from a library (therefore available at an inter-library loan, but
not for purchase). Would you like that as an answer? (the location of
the book, it's details, and instructions how to order it)

[In addition, as my colleague here has suggested, I could provide you
with several book in English claiming to encompass the knoweldge
contained in the book].

Would that be acceptable as an answer?

Dear idutms-ga;

Since my last comment I have actually found some sources for the book
(or translations thereof) that you are looking for:

Thanks to my colleague Sublime1-ga, I have learned that a 1983
translation of the book SI BU YI DIAN (as translated by Li Yongnian
1983) is published by The Publishing House of Public Health, (aka
People's Health Publishing House) Beijing China. This will, of course,
require some correspondence on your part.

I have also located a copy of some documents entitled SI BU YI DIAN
XIANG JIE [colophon title] courtesy of the Tibetan Buddhist Resource
Center which are actually part of a much larger E-Book. It was written
in the 15th century by TSHE DBANG, a student of MNYAM NYID RDO RJE
(b.1439, d.1475). (This is obviously a translation or at the very
least a later version since the original was written by Yu Tuo Yuan Da
Gong Bu et al. in about 753A.D.)

At an rate, when available, this document can be obtained in both
online .pdf form and .pdf form on CD. It is important to note however
the title of the larger E-book that contains this work is:

?rgyud bzhi'i rnam bshad?

TIBETAN BUDDHIST RESOURCE CENTER
http://www.tbrc.org/cgi-bin/tbrcdatx?resource=W28843

Here is another source for the book by THE TIBETAN PEOPLE'S PRESS
($38.00 + shipping):
http://www.chinajnbook.com/book/tbooks11.htm
(see item # T209)

Here is yet another source but this one may require a bit of
confirmation. In it?s offerings under ?Art, Medicine & Health Books
1985-1989? category, it has this publication listed:

?Saçns rgyas rgya, m. and l. Byams pa phrin (1986). Si bu yi dian xi
lie gua tu quan ji. Lasa, Xizang ren min chu ban she : Xizang xin hua
shu dian fa xing.?

MEDLINA.COM
http://www.medlina.com/art_&_medicine_books_1985-1989.htm

And finally, there is a publication held by the UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO
LIBRARY. Here is the catalog number:

R127.5.R493T78 2001 c.1 Sci
Chinese colophon title:Si bu yi dian lun shu ben shu jie ming zhu bao ku
Lan-chou:Kan-su`u mi rigs dpe skrun khan,:2001.
330 pages

UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO LIBRARY
http://www.lib.uchicago.edu/e/crerar/newbooks/nb0204.html

If not for sale you may be able to arrange for a loan to your local
library so you can check the book out and see if it is indeed the
volume you are looking for.

I hope you find that my research exceeds your expectations. If you
have any questions about my research please post a clarification
request prior to rating the answer. Otherwise, I welcome your rating
and your final comments and I look forward to working with you again
in the near future. Thank you for bringing your question to us.
