I should like to know what happened to Gordon Ramsey's face. It looks
as if he had an accident with a broken bottle but I have never been
able to find out if that is correct.

Greetings Lindyloo,

Combine facial cuts/injuries from playing British football (soccer)
with the effects of the sun (he runs weekly and competes in
marathons), add the fact (unconfirmed) that he suffered from acne when
he was younger (and took part in numerous fistfights, by his own
admission), and the sum total pretty much explains why his face is
both weathered and scarred.

"Mr. Ramsey is a tower of energy and creative ability. In his spare
time he runs for two hours, three times a week, the only time he can
really get away from work. And in three weeks he is off to South
Africa to compete in a double marathon for charity. That means running
almost 100km in hot weather."

"He was previously a professional footballer for Glasgow Rangers
before heading off to Paris to train to be a chef. There he served
under the great maestros before becoming one himself."

If he had acne, that would account for pockmarking in his face
resulting (with age) in deep facial lines:
"Look at those pockmarks sunshine! See the acne-ridden teen he must
have been to have craters in his face that are that pronounced!!"

"If only Gordon Ramsey had put on some sun slap when working in those
hot kitchens!"

Ramsey admits to being in many fistfights:
"How many fistfights have you had in your life?"
"God, I?ve lost count to be honest. All I?ll say is don?t question my
integrity between seven and 11 o?clock at night. If you want to fight,
come back and meet me at half past 11 and I?ll go outside and have a
proper fight. But don?t play with my bollocks in the middle of
service."

I hope that the information gathered during my research satisfies your
curiousity about Ramsey's craggy, scarred and weathered face. Should
any links/URLs not function properly, please request a clarification
and I'll be happy to respond.

Thank you for asking such an interesting question!

He does spend a lot of time in steamy, hot kitchens, and has no doubt
done his fair share of drinking in his time: I had always assumed his
face was just a result of enjoying the finer things in life?

Oh well...I think Gordon Ramsey is absolutely adorable. I love the
messy hair and dark brown eyes.
