For 500 green dress shirts made to a special pattern, I would suggest looking further afield. Production of clothes is very much cheaper in Asia, once you can supply the pattern and a sample of the material in the desired color. You may want to work with someone in Dallas on the pattern design (different sizes?) and choice of material and color, and then have them made in Asia. If you already have an example of the shirt you want, that would make things easier, but it could be that there are already patterns for dress shirts that fit your requirements. Y' wouldn't be Irish now, would y'? |

I'm aware of lower pricing overseas, but there is a major loss in convenience. I'm looking specifically for the Dallas area, just as there are many sewing and dying house in Los Angeles. I know that these places exist in Dallas, but they are not very high-profile. i.e. they do not have websites or yellow page ads |

Hi Thrilled, OK, I think if you get one understanding contact in the industry, that person can probably help you find the next one. Forgetting dyers, since I didn't look for any and expect that a green shirt material to fit your requirements can be bought, this link coud lead you to a design school, where someon should be able to suggest where you can get patterns made: http://www.superpages.com/yellowpages/C-Fashion+Design+Schools/S-TX/T-Dallas/ The following are for manufacturers, who again might be able to help you with finding a pattern or where you can have one made: http://www.wholesaledistributorsnet.com/dallas_market_center.html http://fcs.tamu.edu/clothing/textile_clothes_line_newsletter/vol1_no1_summer1998.php http://tx.allpages.com/dallas/manufacturing/apparel-manufacturers/blouses-shirts-sweater-manufacturers/ I hope this helps you, Myoarin |

Thanks a lot Myoarin. allpages.com is an interesting site. I believe that Dallas Market Hall is the best start (for anyone else curious) to finding someone in the industry. I visited some of the 'apparel manufacturers' only to find that they did nothing but silkscreening (lots of really low quality stuff, sold in bulk). The whole area is cheap wholesale goods. However, I know that area is sometimes considered the 'garment district' of Dallas. I'm really looking for a place that will take a cut-and-sew pattern for production, with choice of fabric. I believe I will try to go to some of the next tradeshows out here. Again, for anyone else interested on the topic, a few nice apparel tradeshows are: Magic http://www.magiconline.com/ POOL http://www.pooltradeshow.com/ ISS http://www.issshows.com Anymore info would be greatly appreciated! |
