I don't understand the question. Are you looking for a certain
individual, or for any person who is or has been a New York
firefighter or fire chief?

Have you tried writing to the New York City Fire Department? Google

If the firefighter came to your house as a result of being dispatched,
the name would be in the official report. Call the nearest fire
station and ask where the records are held. You'll need the date.

Here's a page with a link to all the email addresses of retired chiefs:

Fire Chiefs Association - Retired Chiefs email page.

Let me know if this answers your question.

dakotalou

There are many questions similiar to your own asked on this forum.
Some questioners will mention the name of the individual. (and
sometimes non-researcher commenters will come up with the person's
name and address: which as Pinkfreud has pointed is a big no no as far
as the Google Editors are concerned)

I would suggest that you look for similiar questions on this forum by using
GOOGLE ANSWERS search facility. You can use serch terms like
   - missing person
   - looking for friend
   - lost friend
   - find missing
   - find lost

These should bring up questions which will refer yuo to some very useful
databases. (Please make sure you put the search terms in double quotes).
Otherwise a researcher may come up with a few good suggestions with respect
 to your last clarification.

As you know the person was employed in New York and who his/her former
employer it should actually be straightforward to track the person down.
I undestand too that a licenced Private Investigator can track down people
 for a ressonable fee.
