We are trying to identify the key end users for industrial centrifugal
pumps. The information that we need is a list of the top end-use
industries globally with percentages and units (not market values or
revenues). Some of the industries that we believe will be
key are hydrocarbon processing, chemicals, pulp & paper, steel,
utilities, power generation, food & beverage processing, and
pharmaceuticals. However, this list is given as an example and is not
necessarily all of the key industries nor are all of the examples
necessarily key industries.
Please provide a list of industries who use centrifugal pumps with
their related total # of centrifugal pumps and share (percentage of
the total centrifugal pump market) as well as the sources for your
information. |

Hello research_help-ga,
I have located a report costing $325, entitled "The 2000 World Market
Forecasts for Imported Pumps, Compressors, Fans, Blowers, and
Centrifuges". Here is an excerpt :
"This report was created for strategic planners, international
marketing executives and export managers whose primary concern is the
world market for pumps, compressors, fans, blowers, and centrifuges.
With the globalization of this market, managers can no longer be
contented with a local view. Nor can managers be contented with
out-of-date statistics which appear several years after the fact. Icon
Group has developed a proprietary methodology, based on macroeconomic
and trade models, to estimate the market for pumps, compressors, fans,
blowers, and centrifuges for those firms serving the world via exports
and foreign direct investment. It does so for the current year based
on a variety of key historical indicators and econometric models.
Excerpt: In what follows, this report begins by summarizing the world
exporter's market for pumps, compressors, fans, blowers, and
centrifuges. The total level of exports on a worldwide basis is based
on a model which aggregates across over 150 key country markets and
projects these to the current year. From there, each country
represents a percent of the world market. This market is served from a
number of competitive countries of origin. Based on supply-side
dynamics, market shares by country of orgin are then calculated across
each country market. These shares lead to a volume of import values
for each country and are aggregated to regional and world totals. In
doing so, we are able to obtain maximum likelihood estimates of both
the value of each market and the shares that competitors (countries
serving that market) are likely to receive this year. From these
figures, world rankings are calculated to allow managers to prioritize
markets. In this way, all the figures provided in this report are
forecasts that can be combined with internal information sources for
strategic planning purposes. "
I'm not sure if this is what you have in mind. If I can point you to
this report (you need to purchase it online), will you accept it as an
answer?
Looking forward to hearing from you,

I would accept a referral to a paid report if AND ONLY IF it is a
report that meets all of the criteria I mentioned in the original
question. I also have found several reports available for a fee but
when I contacted the firm that offers the report, they did not have
the information that I needed. As mentioned in the question, I would
accept a referral to another report if it meets the criteria:
>identify the key end users for industrial centrifugal
pumps
>list of the top end-use
industries globally with percentages and units (not market values or
revenues)
>list of industries who use centrifugal pumps with
their related total # of centrifugal pumps and share (percentage of
the total centrifugal pump market) as well as the sources for your
information.
Thank you for your time. I would be very happy with an answer that
told me how to buy the answer, but I would need confirmation first
that it contains what I am looking for.

Dear Research Help,
I was able to find the following information, from which I believe you
could estimate the number of centrifugal pump users per industry.
1. 1996, 1997, 1998; Quantity (units) and Value ($) of Shipments,
Exports, and Imports by US manufacturers of pumps, broken down by
centrifugal types e.g., sewage type (nonsubmersible; <12; >12);
submersible effluent pumps (<1hp, >1hp); submersible solids handling
pumps; sumersible nonclog pumps, submersible grinder; single and two
stage single and end suction, close coupled with driver
Basically
these quantity/values are listed by product codes.
2. 1994, 1999, 2004; World Pump Demand ($billion) and projected growth
by region, e.g. US, Canada&Mexico, latin America, Western Europe,
Eastern Europe, Africa&Middle East, China, Japan, Other Asian
countries
3. Centrifugal pumps apparently account for 54% of the world pump
demand, and are the most commonly used.
4. 1998, 2003, 2008; Fluid handling Pump Supply and Demand ($m), and
Growth Rates by Industry sector in US, including Process
Manufacturers, Utilities, Resource Extraction Industries, Construction
Sector, Other Markets, Net Exports
5. The chemical industry is apparently the leading users of
centrifugal pumps.
6. 2001, 2003, China Centrifugal pump demand ($m)
Let me know if you are interested in this information,

I appreciate you locating all of the information detailed above.
However, most of it we already have. What we really need (per the
original question)is a list of industries that are the end users of
centrifugal pumps and the unit number of pumps used globally by each
industry. Dollar values will not help us with this answer. So, your
information #1 and #5 is the most applicable. Please be sure though
before you answer that your answer will include a list of industries
and the number of centrifugal pumps used by each of the major end use
industries.
