Hello! I am a researcher needing to verify the existence of a "deaf
and dumb" institution. (Yes, I know, "deaf and dumb" is politically
incorrect now, but that is what it was called, according to a source.)
The source says that such institution existed (or exists) on 1529 Lyon
Street in Port Huron, Michigan. At least, that's supposedly the
address of the person in charge of admission. I have checked the
internet, to no avail. If anyone can help me with this, it would be
greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I believe that your question will require more time
and effort than the average amount of time and effort associated
with this price. Here is a link to guidelines about pricing

Nenna-ga, thank you for leading me to the pricing guideline. (This is
my first question.) I have a couple sources to check out on my own; if
they don't produce the answer I am looking for, I will gladly raise my
question's price.

Thanks again.

I've got some leads in as well. Hopefully I or one of the other
researchers will be able to help you. Don't worry about not knowing
about the pricing, I'm just glad I could help you out.

Nenna-ga: I too made a few contacts after viewing the link provided by
myoarin-ga (thanks again, myoarin!). It seems that you and I got in
touch with the same person who mentioned the Lansing place; she too
explained that the 1529 Lyon Street address doesn't seem to have
anything to do with any deaf institutions or organizations.

I'm satisfied with the verification so we can consider this question
closed. If I need a more specific verification, I'll be certain to
come back here.

Thanks so very much, Neena! I deeply appreciate your time and effort. You rock. :-)

Thank you for the link, myoarin-ga! That's a great start for me.

Meanwhile, though, if anyone can give me a direct answer to my
question, it'd be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I e-mailed the chamber of commerce and found out this information.

I have contacted a number of organizations that might know the information
that you are looking for and been told that the closest hearing impaired
institution in our area would be:

Michigan Association for Deaf, Hearing & Speech Services
2929 Covington Court, Ste. 200
Lansing, MI 48912-4939
(517) 487-0066

The address you mentioned is near our Visiting Nurses Association Home
Health Care offices but there isn't anything on record of a 1529 Lyon
Street.

Jaspera-ga,
Sorry that that address didn't lead anywhere, but I REALLY appreciate
that you came back with a clarification. You don't know how many
questioners just drop out of sight without a word - much less one of
thanks when when the last comment looked like the answer.
My pet peave!
Thanks, Myoarin

Hi, Myoarin--

Your link did help lots; I hadn't thought to look into the chamber of
commerce's websites. So that's a great 'tool' to tuck under my belt
for the next time I do research on any particular town.

About your pet peeve: Yep, I know the feeling. It's a shame that some
questioners don't have the courtesy and common-sense to at least post
a word of thanks. Anyway, thanks very much again. :-)
