Hello,
According to an article published in the Herald Sun on July 8 2004,
the U.S. spray insecticide market is worth $200 million.
Excerpt:
?A survey of area home-improvement and garden stores also found other
remedies for sale. Besides candles and other small-area repellents,
the anti-mosquito selection includes insecticide sprays and foggers
and "bug zappers." The latter, electric lanterns that lure insects to
an electrified grid, don't generally work well on mosquitoes, which
aren't attracted to ultraviolet light, Conlon said. Rather, they
mostly zap relatively benign bugs, such as moths and June beetles.?
?Still, Americans spend about $100 million a year on bug zappers, he
said. Citronella candles are an approximately $20 million-a-year
industry. Sprays dominate the market, with more than $200 million in
sales. And traps are growing in popularity, now grossing about $175
million annually.?
