What is the latest thinking on the best types of organisational
structures that allow businesses to efficienctly & effectively
capitalise from direct selling via the internet.

I am particular interested in how multi-channel companies with diverse
customer groups and multiple retail businesses approach this. Of key
consideration will be how the structure enables clear communication
between individual business units within the parent organisation,
prevention of canibalisation between each retail business, and the
functional roles that are required.

The ideal format of an answer would be organograms of existing
companies (or conceptual companies) within this field accompanied by
descriptions of the functional roles performed by employees and an
indication of the effectiveness of this structure.

Thank you
