We want to build our own custom force feedback joystick. What SDK do
we use to develop the hardware driver allowing for compatability to
most Windows PC games. I know that DirectInput can be used to make
your application / game / simulation communicate with I/O devices but
I'm coming from the other end, I want to develop the hardware that
will talk to all the DirectX compliant games / simulations.

To better explain....what I'm trying to do is create a peice of
hardware that will read / sniff the Force Feedback data being sent to
a device, that device could be a mouse a wheel a joystick that is
controlling an application / simulation / game. I will then take the
Force Feedback data and use it to power my own hardware device. So I
would guess that maybe this is a stand-alone application / executable
that will run at the same time as the game. My application will sniff
/ read the force feedback data being sent to the wheel, joystick or
mouse run through my algorithms to my I/O software and then to my
hardware.

OK...so maybe my guestion has changed a little......"How can you read
/ sniff Force Feedback data being sent to a I/O device?"

Cheers!

My suggestion would be to increase the price you are offering. Offer
the maximum amount you would be prepared to pay for an answer, and I'm
sure it'll match the minimum one of the researchers would be willing
to take, as unless they already know the answer, it'll take a good
number of hours to research this!
