Benny Sharp & the Sharpees were a R&B band back in the 60's in St.
Louis and Chicago. They did several songs on George Learner's
One-derful label before it went out of business such as "Tired of
being so lonely", "I got a secret". They also did "do the 45", "St.
Louis Sunset Twist", and "Music, I like it Part 1&2". My question is
Where is Benny today and what is he doing now?

Greetings Marmel,

A few clues:

"I was teaching so many people in my basement. Bennie Sharp would come
by with Stacy sometimes, he wanted to learn a few numbers. He got
pretty good, you know! Benny Sharp started preachin' you know. After
that, who else? Anthony Shinott (sp), I got him ready to send to
California."

"Also, in those days, Worldwide Church of God had three jets. There
was the Grumman Gulfstream II (or GII) - that was HWA's private
transport, the French made twin jet Falcon - that was GTA's toy, and a
Cessna Citation, twin jet, that was piloted by GTA and Bennie Sharp.
Bennie was a fully licensed ATP (Airline Transport Pilot) and FAA
instructor and examiner that taught many of the elite cultmasters to
fly. There was also a Cessna 182 where many of the "evangelists" and
elite learned to fly and also get their IFR (Instrument rating)
license."

"More remarkable was the rancor evident when some former brethren
attempted to pay their respects. Two prominent colleagues from CGI
days, Charles Groce and Benny Sharp, had apparently contacted Mark
Armstrong earlier, who indicated he was happy that they attend. Sharp
however was reportedly confronted when he arrived by a prominent ICG
[CGI] member and told he was not welcome, and was then asked to leave
by the funeral director. An appeal to Shirley Armstrong was made, and
Sharp was graciously given dispensation to sit outside in the lobby
during the service. Sharp understandably preferred to leave, as did
Groce when he learned what had happened."

So, I got on the phone and called Church of God International [CGI
a.k.a. IGC] and was told that their Benny Sharp (CGI Business Manager)
is not the Benny Sharp you seek. At least I could eliminate one lead
for you. :)

Best regards,
journalist-ga
