I often get the error box, "Interntet Explorer Script Error." It
gives me the choice to continue or not, and has a box labelled "don't
show errors."

How can I eliminate seeing these useless errors?

You may need to be a Mac user to research this question.

Internet Explorer has preferences for Java:

     "Alert on exception"
     "Log Java output"
     "Log Java exceptions"

I have these all turned off, but still get the error.

I'm running Internet Explorer 5.1.7, MacOS 9.2.2, on a PowerMac G4 tower.

Thanks.

By far the easiest way is to stop using IE on a Mac, since it is an
unsupported browser.

By the way, you ought to be using OSX, which if you just want to use
Panther, rather than the newer Tiger version is readily available for
a discounted price from various legitimate sources. Check out
dealmac.com and search for Panther.

Hi magic_mark,

Although this advice is regards IE V. 6.0 on Windows XP, I once fixed
this on a Mac and it was very similar.

Under ?Tools => Internet Options?? in the ?Advanced? tab look in the
?Browsing? category.

Unmark the following option:

?Display a notification about every script error?

and mark the following 2 options:

?Disable script Debugging (Internet Explorer)?

?Disable script Debugging (Internet Explorer)?

If your problems are Java related it might be a good idea to reinstall
the java pack on your machine.

To download:

http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/java/

Again, as leoj commented, the best way to prevent ?Internet Explorer
Script Error?s on a Mac would be to use a different browser (although
you would want to keep it as some sites as banks, online retailers and
such work only with it).

Best regards,

Hi Amok69,

Although my Mac version's options are totally different than yours on
WindowsXP, you inspired me to search harder, and I think I found it.

I chose navigated:

  	Edit -->
		   Preferences -->
    			Web Content
to the area called "Active Content".

There I unchecked the box "Show scripting error alerts".

Because I didn't get the error always, it will be a while until I know
whether or not this worked. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks!
