Is there any website and/or other computer-based resource that can be
accessed (for a fee and/or free of charge) that will enable me to view
real-time satellite images up-close? By up-close, I?m referring to
seeing such things as un-blurred images of livestock, moving vehicles,
etc. on my property in So. California. Though Google Earth has
satellite images, they are not real time and do not allow viewers the
ability to see up-close,
un-blurred objects. In short, I would like the ability to see the
?whites of their eyes?, so to speak. If you do not know of such a
website or other resource, please do not respond to this inquiry.
Thank you in advance!!!!

Even if there are such sites, from your experience with Google Earth
you will have discovered that zooming close enough to "see the whites
of their eyes" runs into a problem with the definition of the monitor
image. Things look more blurred than at a slightly greater distance,
at which our eyes were satisfied with the definition.

Should you ever find a site that fits your description, perhaps you
could share it? Even if the resolution is not quite what you were
asking for but the information is real time (to at least within 1 day
or better) I would greatly appreciate knowing how to access that sort
of infomation.
Thank you in advance.

How much of a fee were you thinking? I know for a fact that there is
no such service in existence, but I'm sure boeing wouldn't mind
building you a satellite for said purpose.

Hello marinetrans38-ga,

Apparantly in 1978 President Carter put a limitation on the spatial
resolution of satellite imaging of 10 meters. In 1994 President
Clinton loosened this limitation to a resolution of 1 meter for
commercial satellite images. Although the technology for higher
resolutions exist, there is some limit on the detail we can acheive
with the current technology (which would not allow you to capture the
detail required to "see the whites of their eyes"). Bush has given
the OK to acquire images with a resolution of 10 inches, however, this
is not for commercial use.

If you are interested in some kind of high tech surveillance system
for your property terrestrial imaging probably makes more sense in
terms of cost and capabilities...

high quality cameras with telescopic lenses mounted on poles or other
nearby structures (wide angle or positionable using remotely
controlled motors) may be a realistic solution in your situation

I hope that helps.
