i am currently employed full time, and my benefits package includes
dental insurance. the yearly maximum that the insurance will pay my
dentist is $1,000, and in july have already reached this limit. i am
thinking of finding a new job. if my new job also has dental
insurance, will i start with a $0 balance and be able to get yet
another $1000 (or whatever the limit is) this year?

Do you know the name of the dental insurance company/plan to which you
would be switching?

Afte re-reading your question, I think I can answer my own question;
since you don't know yet which job you might be taking, you don't know
which plan you would be getting.

I presume that different plans have different rules. Accordingly,
would it be helpful if we find the rules for one or two of the largest
dental plans, or for your current plan?

my current dental insurance is through metlife.

as you said, i don't know what my new insurance would be through.
rules for one or two of the largest plans would be perfect. i don't
know if plans are location-specific. if it helps, i'm in new york
city.

it would also be good to know what would happen if my new job also had
metlife dental insurance.
