The case is reported at Smithers v. Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, Inc., 139 Cal.App.3d 643, 189 Cal.Rptr. 20 (1983) and also Smithers v. Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, Inc., 696 P.2d 82, 211 Cal.Rptr. 690 (1985); you should be able to get a copy of the decisions from a law library. Smithers sued the television studio and two of its officers for breach of contract, tortious breach of contract, and fraud and won at trial. The claim was that the studio threatened to blacklist Smithers if he did not agree to waive his contract rights. The issues involved inducing Smithers into a contract with billing provisions which the studio had no intention of performing.
