Is there a demand for American professionals to work in Croatia in a professional capacity? Assume that said professional (i) for now, does not have Serbo-Croat language skills and (ii) does not wish to teach English. Professional background: law (with JD) and compliance, real property, teaching (community college level). Good tips for good answers. |

Hi there, I had the same question a year ago before I moved here and the answer is no! Sorry to say it. I have a good professional background and can't find anything. Now I have some Croatian language skills and still can't get an interview. Every resume sent is replied with "we found someone else" even when I am completely qualified for the job. Even if you do find a job here, the salaries are nothing to compare to US ones - but the cost of living is about the same if not higher than in some parts of the US. You might be able to find some real estate property jobs with UK or foreign firms that are expanding here. I recently saw a posting for a lawyer position on www.moj-posao.net (a great site to check for jobs in Croatia). Also, this is a good site to check out with comments on Croatia and the job market: http://visitcroatia.proboards21.com/index.cgi Being that I can't find anything good here, any tips you send for my feedback is appreciated :-) Hope that helps! |

I was stationed in Bosnia. You need to look at the U.N and OSCE for a job. They like to hire Americans. Both have web sites. Also go to reliefweb.org and they have jobs available. I will be moving to Croatia in about 6 months. Both OSCE and the U.N. have web sites. Try that. Hope it helps. |
