Question ID: 543696
I'm taking a driving trip at the end of August. I have a handicapped
parking placard (not a license plate, but a placard for inside the
car) for Illinois. Does that make me eligible to park in handicapped
parking spaces in other states? I'm driving through Kentucky,
Tennessee, Georgia and Indiana.

Hi saloonsinger,

Please let me know if this answers your question:

"*How long is the temporary handicapped parking placard good for?
The temporary handicapped parking placard is issued by the City of
Geneva for a period of 90 days. It may be renewed for additional
periods of 90 days each. However, it may not be renewed more than
three consecutive times, or for a period greater than one year.

Each renewal will require a new application to be completed, including
a physician's certification.

If it is believed that the disability will last longer than one year,
a State issued handicapped parking placard or plates should be
obtained.

*Is this temporary handicapped parking placard valid in other
communities than Geneva?
Yes, handicapped parking placard, whether issued by the State or by
local municipalities, should be honored by all local authorities in
all 50 states."
