When I was a kid, my Dad read me a story about a mouse family...their
names were "someone", "noone", "everyone" and I think there was one
more....does anyone know of this story, or know where I can locate it?
The story was really funny, as it was about shifting the blame ie.
Someone saw it, and everyone knew about it, but noone did it...But I
could be wrong - this was going back 20 years now! |

I believe this may be substantially the same story:
"This is the story of four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody,
and Nobody. There was an important job to be done and Everybody was
asked to do it. Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that, because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that
Everybody wouldn't do it. Consequently, it wound up that Nobody told
Anybody, so Everybody blamed Somebody."

There are many versions of this on the Web, I have not been able to
locate a version involving mice. I'd be glad to gather some of the
variant texts of the story for you, if that would constitute a fully
satisfactory answer.
I found a story with mice that is a bit similar, but the characters'
names are different. The story is part of a longer book. Here's an
excerpt:

Please let me know what you think.

Since this is not the exact story you're seeking, do you want to leave
the question open in hopes that another Researcher may be able to find
a version involving mice? I don't want to post an official answer
unless you are fully satisfied.

Sure - I'll leave it open for another week just in case. The story, as
I remember it, was quite a bit longer than the one you provided.
Probably close to 250 words...
