the song is a slower contemporary rock-ish song. not loud or rowdy
though, very mello.  sang by a male, voice resembles steven tyler of
aerosmith.  song was played on fox tv during the closing credits after
the yankees won the 1996 world series.  the song begins, "this is the
time of your life...."  the song is heard while a video summary of the
series plays on screen.

It doesn't fit the lyrics exactly, but could it be "This Is It" by
Kenny Loggins?.  I've heard this song used for sporting events several
times before.

It starts out "There have been times in my life..."
