I am new to Linhof and as I read about them  there is a continuous
reference to cammed lenses.  Could I get an explanation for what a cam
is?  And what is does for the lense.

Maybe this site can help you.  Under Technical Information click on
Lenses and there is some description of cams.  Otherwise, there may be
other places on the site that can help you.  In some places, it seems
that the cam is a link to the range or viewfinder.
