There is a legal case involving a company that used pirated software
(microsoft access) to develop a database.  Currently, that company is
claiming that an employee stole the database that was created using
pirated software.  Where does ownership of the database reside and can
you point to case law.

Think of it like this
I employ a mechanic who has no tools
I give him a set of tools that I've (ahem) borrowed
- also some stolen paint
He rebuilds and resprays my 1925 Rolls Royce Phantom

Then he drives off in it.
