I would need the list of the 10000 more frequent searches made on
major search engines, in english, in sorted by frequency.
As this will probably need to gather lists from several search
engines, on different periods, I would prefer to avoid short periods,
like "top search engine terms in a given day or week" as these depend
too much on this particualr period events.

Hi!

Search engines like Google and Lycos have archives of their annual top
search terms but Yahoo does not. Would this be ok with you? However,
they don't have frequency data. Only Yahoo has such a statistic.

Would the data even without frequency numbers be ok as an answer?

Thanks!

Hello,

I don't need frequency numbers, as long as the list is sorted by frequency.

Thanks

imcsa-ga,

I know of a service that compiles the top 100,000 search terms for the past year.

I believe you can access the full list, which is presented in order
from the most frequent on down.

For instance, the search term [ Computer ]is number 96 for the past
year, while [ Ad aware ] is number 144.

This seems to be the type of information you're seeking.

However, there is a sign-up charge to access the service. The charge is $98/yr.

The site also offers a free newsletter where you can see the top 1,000
searches from the past week -- this is a good way to preview the
service before signing up.

Let me know if this is of interest, and if so, I can post the sign-up
information as an answer to your question. Please be aware, though,
that the fee for the service is independent of the fee you have
offered here at Google Answers.

Hello,

Yes, this seems the kind of service we could use, if it is reliable.

As I will need the same kind of lists in other languages: german,
spanish, japanese, chinese, if your source has also the other
languages, we can move up this question price from 100 to 200 USD

imcsa-ga,

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly on this.

The service I mentioned earlier is called Aleksika, and can be found here:

http://www.aleksika.com/
Aleksika Search Engine Marketing

Aleksika offers a variety of services to its members, among them, a
powerful set of keyword research tools. You can see the list of tools
on the left-hand side of their homepage:

=====
Marketing Tools: Keyword Research

Keyword Search
English Dictionary
Top Keywords
Keyword Directory
Download Keywords
=====

Clicking on these tools will bring you to their member sign-up page.
After signing up for the Aleksika service, you will be able to access
the tools directly, including their list of the Top 100,000 keyword
searches.

There is not a lot of description at their current website of how or
where Aleksika compiles their lists of keywords. However, earlier
versions of their webpage were a bit more forthcoming. For instance,
you can see a 2004 version of their page at the Internet Archives
site:

http://web.archive.org/web/20040402001540/www.aleksika.com/keywords/about

==========
Aleksika Keywords

An important part of search engine optimization and advertising is to
identify relevant keywords. Aleksika Keywords contains more than
400,000,000 keywords that people have typed in search engines.

Aleksika Keywords is updated every day with keywords that people enter
in Alltheweb, Altavista, Dogpile, Galaxy, InfoSpace, Lycos,
Metacrawler, MSN, Search.com, Yahoo and the search refinement tool
Aleksika Explorer.

Each keyword is followed by detailed statistic information:

Statistics

Keyword

A keyword is a value that is typed into a search engine in order to
find relevant results.

Type

Search: An element of a search or query
Competitor: Keywords used on competitors' website

Related: Contains synonyms and endings

Similarity: Different and related similarities and spellings
==========

[NOTE: The above is their description from 2004, and may not fully
refelct their current status]

Although one must be a member to fully access their lists, there is
some information available without signing up that can at least give
you the flavor of the Aleksika service.

For instance, a 2004 version of their Top 1000 search terms of the
week is available here:

http://www.aleksika.com/news.html

and you can see the layout of an earlier version of their Top 100,000
list -- along with the list of search terms -- here:

http://64.233.161.104/search?q=cache:TU9ISQ30fvUJ:www.aleksika.com/3/keyword-research/top-keywords/+site:www.aleksika.com+yahoo&hl=en

The keyword research tools offered by Aleksika should fully meet your
needs for English-language search terms.

Unfortunately, I am not aware of similar services in other languages.

I trust this information fully answers your question.

However, please don't rate this answer until you have everything you
need. If you would like any additional information, just post a

and I'm at your service.

All the best,

Thanks!
I put 4 stars instead of 5 and no tip as I have to pay an additional
subscription to a third party service to get the list I was asking.
But the answer was good.
