Subject: Re: Police Officer Selection Test Preparation (POST) and PATI Test
From: beds-ga on 11 Jan 2006 20:24 PST

In the United States (Including Florida) almost all police services
use what is called the Police Officer Selection Test (POST) to
determine your initial abilities to become a police officer. he POST
Test has the following components:

   1. Mathematics Testing (20 Minutes)
   2. Reading Comprehension (25 Minutes)
   3. Grammar (15 Minutes)
   4. Incident Report Writing (15 Minutes)

It is imperative that you review all of these skills before testing -
as many applicants who have completed University or College can fail
simply because of poor preparation.

I highly reccommend using a study guide to prepare yourself - there
are some really good options available. I highly reccommend
http://www.policetestprep.com for all POST and PATI preparation.

You can read more about POST here: http://www.vachiefs.org/vacp/vacp_post.html

This same guide can be used for all police test preparation including
NYPD and LAPD initial testing.

In Ontario, Canada recruits are required to complete a similar test
called the PATI - Police Analytical Thinking Inventory which is
conducted by an independent company. Again, preparation is critical.
You can find out more information at:
http://www.applicanttesting.com/patiinfo.htm

Hope this is helpful.
