Question ID: 545379
I need Java based open source code for web based website vistor
tracking....using log files is the primary need others, would be
bonuses.

I would like to see my options, so if there is more than one code base
out there I want to see it. Charting capabilities are one of the
goals.

Thank you,
Mikey

It sound like you want log file analysis, correct?

Or do you want clickstream data tracking each user?

Do you want summary reports or live data?

Thanks!

OK....

I will need to know more about your hosting package. Does it allow JSP
and/or Servlets?

It is important to know exactly what you mean when you say "Java"
based, as there are various Java internet technologies available, and
the one most commonly referred to as "Java" in this context, applets,
are impossible to use for this task, as they are client based not
server side, apart from perhaps for a GUI.

Assuming you then wish to do it in server side Java technologies, have
you not considered using a server side scripting language such as ASP
or PHP for the problem? It is much simpler to use these, and they are
more ideally suited for the task in hand.

A pretty nice piece of logging util (without member):
http://coldjava.hypermart.net/servlets/weblog.htm

please be specific a bit ..., because rather you emphasis on members
details or not is an issue to be consider. e.g.: only generate graph
for A, B, C, D only for January loggin frequent ... etc.
