There are many companies advertised on the internet that offer
services such as will writing, writing of trusts, inheritance tax
planning and enduring powers of attorney - they state that you do not
need a solicitor anymore to arrange services such as these. These
companies are not backed by the Law Society [or equivalent] and say
that they can offer the services for a fraction of the cost a
solicitor would charge. What is the qualification level or minimum
standards required to operate such a business?

Given the language used (solicitor, Law Society), I presume you are
not posting from the USA.

In the USA, there are no qualifications. Hang out a shingle, sell
legal papers. Often, these companies will hire paralegals and use
pre-built form templates to avoid liability.

Liability is the real regulator in the US - if they do something
wrong, they can and will be sued for very large sums.

So, the clarification - what country please?
