What percentage of the Japanese population is below the poverty line?
The CIA world factbook lists it as being 12% (2004 est.) for USA but
"not available" for Japan. Please let me know your source so i can
verify the soundness of your answer

Hello tom2000-ga,

I haven't been able to find solid numbers for the percentage of
Japanese under the poverty line. Here are some articles and economic
indicators that provide some information on the subject. Will this
meet your needs? Thanks.

I'm afraid not, czh. I've read through the first three links
thoroughly to see if I can cobble the figure together somehow but I
can't. I did glean the following:

- anything below 2 million Yen = below the unofficial poverty line

- In 2000, the average household income was about 6.17 million yen

Didnt bother with the 4th link as yo've already assured me it didnt
help you come up with a solid number either. Any other suggestions?

Tom
