A June, 2005 newsreport citing a ?company spokesman? states that
Flickr has 775,000 registered users and 19,5 million photos and a 30
percent monthly growth rate.
The month before Yahoo! acquired Flickr, Stewart Butterfield, Flickr?s
CEO, stated in an interview that Flickr had 270,000 users and 4
million photos.
Neither the Flickr or Yahoo! websites provide official numbers of
subscribers or photos. You will have to draw your own conclusions
based on what credibility you attribute to the sources cited.

Flickr to Add Print to Photo Service

Flickr, the online photo service owned by Yahoo (Quote, Chart), is
gearing up to launch a new print-on-demand service, internetnews.com
has learned.
Flickr is growing rapidly. A company spokesman said the service has
775,000 registered users and hosts 19.5 million photos, with growth of
about 30 percent per month. He said that prints were in Flickr's
future, but would not confirm the time of the rollout of the photo
book service.

self-publishing and "social networking" services, is acquiring Flickr
Inc. which is a Canadian photo-sharing company.
Flickr will remain a standalone unit for at least several months, but
eventually may be incorporated into existing Yahoo products. The site
includes more than 5.5 million photos but does not disclose how many
people have subscribed to the service.

As of this writing, Flickr boasts 270,000 users, four million photos,
30 percent monthly growth in users, and 50 percent monthly growth in
photos. (As a datapoint, when I interviewed Stewart about ten days
ago, those numbers were 240,000 users and 3.5 million photos.)
Butterfield: Some people really are primarily using it for sharing
photos with friends and family. They have contacts in the system and
select certain photos to be only available to friends or family, only
occasionally making a photo public. The majority, though, are making
almost all of their photos public. Of those 3.5 million photos, 82
percent are public.

Flicker turns the photo-sharing idea on its head. Instead of users
inviting others to peruse their online photo albums, Flickr assumes
you want to make your pictures public, unless you choose otherwise.
More than 80% of its 5.5 million photos are public.

Flickr, who we interviewed last year, has reopened the area of their
site devoted to Creative Commons licensed images. If you're looking
for a photo to drop into a collage, a report for school, or even onto
a t-shirt, this is a great place to browse and search for specific
licensed photos. We're also happy to see growth at Flickr has gone way
beyond our expectations to nearly 1.5 million photos licensed for
reuse.
