Hi,
I am looking for a list of East Indian associations in the New York/
New Jersey area, particularly those for professionals (not regional
ones like Gujarathi, Bengali or religious) with their contact info.

Hello johnman,

As you may already know, many lists of East Indian organizations on
the Web are not suitable to your question: they're not limited to New
York or New Jersey, not comprehensive, inaccurate, and/or outdated.
(This is true for many lists on the Web generally.) Rather than
continue to hunt for a good current list tailored to New York/New
Jersey, I will create one here.

This list includes associations with an independent web presence,
which tends to suggest an active organization. There are surely other
relevant organizations; given the size of the Asian Indian population
in New York/New Jersey, that would be true even for a list twice this
long. However, I believe I have found most websites for major East
Indian associations in the area. (Note: I have included South Asian
organizations such as the South Asian Networking Association. I
assume that while you don't want associations that are too narrow, you
wouldn't mind ones that were too broad but inclusive of all East
Indians.) I hope that you'll agree that this list is more useful for
you than other lists on the Web.

I'll start with general professional associations, and then list more
specialized associations.

Search strategy --

Started by searching on Google for:

indian community "new york"

Then searched on Google for various association names, individually or
in combination, sometimes along with geographical terms (e.g., ny,
"new jersey").
