The little write protect tab on my SD-card broke off. I can read the card, but not write on it or remove the pictures on it. How can I repair the card? Card type: Scan Disk 128Mb |

Can you see a slide where the tab was? If you can see the stub that connected to the tab, and you can use something small (pin, paper clip) to shift that to the other side, you will then have write access to it. You will need to use the same method to read-only lock it again, but if you can shift it out of that mode, it should work fine. Matthew Rasmussen |

I;m pretty sure the little tab has no direct control over access to your sd card, I've seen devices which ignore the write protect switch and write to a card no matter what the state of the switch. the tab on an sd card for the write protect has no electrical connection to the chip. It operates like the punch tabs on an old VHS tape or the write protect on a 3 1/4" floppy disk in that the READING device detects the position of the switch through a sensor (in the case of an SD card a metal pin that closes a switch in the reading device) and then the write protect is honored on the part of the accessing device. the way you reversed "read only" on a VHS tape was to put tape over the open hole where the tab was before you punched it out. you need to find a equivalent way to replace the tab on your sd card so the switch in the reader is closed when the card is inserted. |

I had the same problem. The system works like written here above, so take a small piece of paper or something rigid and attach it to your SD card on the place where the lock button has been with a thin tape (thin is neceassary otherwise you cannot slide it in the slot anymore). If it fills the gap the SD card will work again. |
