I have lived for the last 2 years in the US and built up a collection of DVDs bought there. I am about to move back to the UK and want to be able to play them through a PAL TV. I know about region coding, 120/240v etc, but need to know if I need a DVD player that will convert the video output to PAL. If so are there any tips about what would make one better than another and where to get one? |

I have a PAL TV set and I have used several Cyberhome DVD players so far. None of them had any problems with NTSC DVDs (besides, they are not expensive at all). I also have a Philips DVDR 610 DVD recorder that plays the NTSC DVDs perfectly with my PAL TV set. Scriptor |

you shouldn't have any real problems, esp. with new dvd players as scriptor has experienced. however if you do run in trouble perhaps you could purchase a tv which does pal and ntsc. but this sort of defeat the purpose of the original message |

There's an interesting article at http://www.dvddemystified.com/dvdfaq.html#1.19 and you can get loads of useful info from http://www.videohelp.com. If you've got a modern TV it's unlikely you'll have any problems. Ian G. |
